Hi!
My name is Carys and I am a friendly passionate music teacher based in Newcastle with specialism in piano and music theory.
I have over 20 years experience of playing piano and six years of teaching.
I enjoy teaching a variety of musical styles – I am a classically trained musician but I also love video game and film music. I also have 100% pass rate with ABRSM exams and offer a lot of support and guidance through this process. If you or your child are not wanting to do exams, I offer a lot of other routes too!
My qualifications include:
– ABRSM grade 8 Piano – LCME grade 8 music theory
– BA(Hons) in music - MMus
- PGCE and qualified teacher status
I love video games and spending time with my 3 cats!
Lessons
What happens in a lesson?
You will have an initial conversation to discuss your interests and requirements. Piano lessons are for all ages and abilities including complete beginners, and lessons will be tailored to your needs and preferences.
Any students wanting to take exams will have full exam preparation up to Grade 8 for piano and music theory. I use ABRSM and Trinity exam boards for piano exams, and ABRSM for music theory exams.
Where do the lessons take place?
Lessons are held at my home in Newcastle upon Tyne. I do not travel to other people homes, however I can offer online lessons if needed.
There are 3 resident cats who like to listen to any music being performed!
How do I pay for lessons?
Lessons are paid for in monthly blocks as a standing order to avoid any confusion with invoices and differing prices every month.
Any books can be purchased through me if necessary.
How long is a lesson?
Your piano lessons can be 30 minutes, 45 minutes or an hour depending age, experience and exam preparation.
90 minute lessons are also on offer for students who require longer.
